11/21/21 Next stop,
The Moorings Marina in Carabelle, Florida.
As we were arriving at the Carabelle River into town, we
encountered a Looper parade! A weather
window had suddenly occurred, so about twelve of the boats that had been at the
Moorings decided to take advantage of the opportunity. It was fun waving at them as they left. We had met many of them in our travels.
The staff at The Moorings was very friendly. They provided a free breakfast every
morning! They also had a good meeting
room for gatherings. We met a number of
times to discuss the Gulf crossing. We
also had a pot luck Thanksgiving Dinner at noon on Thanksgiving.
There’s not much to the town of Carabelle. There’s an IGA grocery, an ACE hardware and a
local hardware store, a couple of small gift stores, a small restaurant that is
open Wednesdays through Sundays, one other restaurant, a Post Office.
There much be about 10 Looper boats either still here or arriving the
next day. We’ll all probably take the
next opportunity to leave this thriving metropolis next Thursday, Thanksgiving
Day, to cross the Gulf to Clearwater.
